The National EMS Academy was formed in 2003 as a collaborative effort between Acadian Ambulance Service and South Louisiana Community College with the primary objective of providing the education and training necessary for individuals seeking to enter the emergency medical services industry. Initially composed of six campuses located in Louisiana, the academy now utilizes nine sites to serve students in both Louisiana and Texas. The Academy also provides continuing education and refresher training in both the traditional classroom setting and via computer-based lessons, and specialty training for other healthcare professionals.
